Meet our Students

Our geo-science and environmental science students hail from a wide range of institutions and disciplines. All are interested in scientific research and are participating in our study of biogeochemical processes in northern upland and wetland ecosystems.

California State University, Monetery Bay
Environmental Science Technology & Policy major

I'm from San Diego, CA, and currently, I am an Environmental Science major at California State University, Monterey Bay. CSUMB is a small school on the beautiful Monterey Bay and is an excellent spot for outdoor recreation. At school I work on the Greenhouse Gas Project, which is studying different agricultural methods and their subsequent release of greenhouse gases.

While in Sweden I am studying Mercury concentrations in the different plant communities across the Mire. My project is just a small snapshot of overall mercury cycling at Stordalen but it will give an idea as to where mercury is being stored. Once we get back to New Hampshire, I will run my plant samples on the Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer which is a big fancy machine which will determine the concentration of mercury in each plant.
